THE X WING TEAM
— OUR FLIGHT CREW —
He made history at age 21 as the youngest Australian to reach the summit of Mt. Everest. He followed that by conquering the remaining Seven Summits—reaching the highest peaks on each of the seven continents—at age 23. He is constantly searching for new ways to challenge himself and the world we live in. He has made over 4,000 skydives (3,000 while piloting a wingsuit) and 350 wingsuit BASE jumps, and is a pioneer in Wingsuit Flight, performing in air shows around the world.
The X Wing project didn’t get off the ground without help and hard work. Meet a few team members who are helping make the X Wing dream a reality.
Jhonathan Florez is an expert BASE jumper, skydiver and wingsuit pilot. He holds multiple wingsuit flying world records and has reached speeds of close to 180 miles/hour in his wingsuit. His ability to fly fast will help him keep up with Rex and his faster X wing.
Todd Davis is an extreme sports athlete, landscape designer and children’s book author. He is a wingsuit veteran, having been part of multiple record-breaking teams. He will photograph and video Rex's crossing.
Jason Johanson is a pilot, flight instructor and general contractor. He has been part of the project from the very beginning. His knowledge of fiberglass and composite construction, carbon fiber and how they integrate with Rex's body has been vital.
Melissa Pemberton is a world-class aerobatics competitor. She earned her pilot license at 18 and performed in her first airshow at 20. She flies a lightweight, highly maneuverable aerobatic aircraft and will fly alongside Rex as he attempts the crossing.

REX & MELISSA — A PASSION FOR ADRENALINE —
Their first kiss followed a day of BASE jumping from mountain cliffs in Australia. He proposed in Antarctica with an elaborate treasure hunt that ended with a ring, a bottle of champagne and an avalanche beacon. Today, they combine their individual passions and perform together at air shows – Melissa in her Edge 540 aerobatic plane creating a white smoky corkscrew around Rex as he flies his wingsuit from 10,000 feet.
